Collaboration toward a more sustainable industry with EIRP and AWS

The FAMES Lab has begun collaborating with Energy Systems Network (ESN), Conexus, Emerging Manufacturing Collaboration Center (EMC2), and Amazon Web Services (AWS) on the Energy Insights Research Platform (EIRP), along with Purdue University and Notre Dame University. Our research and development program will focus on reducing energy and carbon footprint, increasing factory efficiency and enhancing sustainability in different manufacturing sectors using advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques by installing Minimum Viable Product (MVP) Kits manufactured by NineTwelve in the FAMES lab. The FAMES Lab team,  and , will create realistic end-to-end data collection-transmission-analytics pathways from the FAMES lab to the AWS cloud, mirroring – and to be federated with – the primary facility at EMC2 and those at our industrial partners. Specifically, Hamed will be responsible for using the lab machines, collecting, monitoring, and modeling data from the MVP kit, and linking them up with the virtual private cloud. Tyson will be responsible for the installation and troubleshooting of the equipment. Multiple news outlets have covered this emerging collaboration; namely, the News Central Site, EXBulletin, LocalToday, and News at IU.
