Jackson is from Fishers, Indiana, and graduated in 2020 from Fishers High School.  He is currently a fourth-year student at Indiana University, majoring in biotechnology and minoring in environmental science. His interests in engineering stem from his original major in systematic engineering. Toward the end of his undergrad, he researched fiber-enabled tissue engineering at the FAMES Lab, where he specialized on the use of shape memory polymers for biological/medical applications. After completing his undergraduate degree requirements, he pursued an accelerated Masters in Biotechnology in the College of Arts and Sciences. As part of his Master Thesis, he now develops biodegradable drug-delivering multimaterial fiber devices at the FAMES Lab.
