Mengxin Zheng is originally from Xinxiang, China. She received her Bachelor in Materials Science and Engineering from Shandong University in 2018, specializing in inorganic non-metallic materials engineering.

Her previous research experiences include seeking alternatives to contemporary fabrication methods in using pure-ceramic zirconia materials. She also studied the development and manipulation of environmentally-friendly lead-free ferroelectric thin films for various applications. She worked at Komatsu as a tooling engineer intern in 2016 getting hands-on experience and a feel for industrial work.

Mengxin is a graduate student in Intelligent Systems Engineering at Indiana University Bloomington, specializing in nanoscale engineering. She worked as a research assistant at the FAMES Lab researching the 3D printing of glass. She then transitioned to conduct research in computer engineering.
