FAMES Lab

The tapering setup was finally delivered after a collaborative effort from the FAMES Lab's initial members. The creation was designed by Veda Narayana Koraganji, Neil Patel, and Professor Gumennik, refined by Tony Kaelin from K3D Design and manufactured by Gary Fleener from LG Metalworks. The Project initiation, concept consolidation, CAD modelling, and fabrication, lasted 15 months.

The tapering setup is a automated apparatus for thermal drawing, tapering and scaling of multimaterial fibers, and investigation of fluid dynamics phenomena with tight control over those processes down to the nanometric regime.
